Spectrum Presentation Theatre was originally owned and operated by BP and is still known to many people as the BP Theatrette.
Spectrum Presentation Theatre's current owners operate a Fitness and Health Centre located on the ground floor of the same BP building and in August 2008 they took over management of the theatre and subsequently renamed it to Spectrum Presentation Theatre. Spectrum is also the trade name of the Health and Fitness Centre so there is a natural branding flow between the two enterprises.
The name 'Spectrum' reflects the broad range and diversity of uses that the theatre is suitable for and also reflects the diversity of the client base both for the Theatre and the Health and Fitness Centre.
Theatre specifications Spectrum Presentation Theatre is a purpose built facility with a raised stage area and fixed tiered seating. Every seat in the Theatre has a similar excellent view of the Stage and Screen.
The large permanent Screen can be used at its full capacity or altered in width by way of sliding side panels. The Stage area has both rear and front curtains that can be opened and closed electronically.
The extensive lighting systems can be controlled either from backstage or via the main light switches out front.
